Heidi-Ingrid Maaroos, decorated with Marshall & Warreni medal for her long lasting research

Professor Emerita of the University of Tartu, Estonia: Heidi-Ingrid Maaroos was decorated with the Marshall & Warren medal for her long lasting research and development work in the field of gastrointestinal diseases and Helicobacter pylori on September 27th 2015 during the 28th conference of European helicobacter and microbiota study group meeting in Nikosia.

Australian researchers Barry Marshall and Robin Warren got the Nobel prize in 2005 for discovering Helicobacter pylori and reasons of common gastric diseases like chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric cancer.

The Marshall & Warren medal was founded in 2006 to give recognition for known researchers of this field for one person. Up to now acknowledged researchers are: 2006 Barry Marshallile (Australia), Stanislav Konturek (Poland), 2007 Mike Dixon (UK), 2008 Timo Kosunen (Finland), 2009 Pelayo Correa (USA), 2010 Reinhold Stockbrügger (Netherlands), 2011 Samy Cadranel (Belgium), 2012 Richard Hunt (Canada), 2013 Masahiro Asaka (Japan), 2014 Manfred Kist (Germany) and 2015 Heidi-Ingrid Maaroos (Estonia).
